Ten deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, marking the highest single-day toll from this new strain. Kerala, Delhi, and Maharashtra have been the hardest hit, reporting 5, 3, and 1 deaths respectively. Since January 2025, India has witnessed a concerning rise in COVID-19 cases, with a total of approximately 20,000 infections reported nationwide. The nation watches as the active case count climbs to 7383 across 31 states and union territories. Although no new cases were reported on Saturday, 17 patients successfully recovered. Kerala currently leads with the highest number of active cases at 2007, followed by Gujarat at 1441 and West Bengal at 747. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is closely monitoring the situation and urging citizens to maintain vigilance and adhere to preventive measures, including vaccination and COVID appropriate behavior. This new variant poses a significant challenge to the ongoing national healthcare efforts and demands immediate attention.
